Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka is an American-British sitarist and musician. She was the first and youngest woman to win a British House of Commons Award. Anoushka Sitar Shankar is an Indian young sitar singer. She is Ravi Shankar's pupil as well as his daughter. Born in London and grew up in New Delhi, she spent the first few years of her life bouncing between London as well as New Delhi. She started learning to play the guitar at the age nine and performed on the sitar for the 75th anniversary of the birth of her father in Delhi just four years after. Anoushka, who accompanied her father throughout his global tour, gained a remarkable number of experiences. As a teenager, she played in Carnegie Hall as part of Peter Gabriel's WOMAD and recorded alongside George Harrison. To honor her position as a leading musician of Asian Arts, she was presented with the House of Commons Shield by British Parliament.
